Originally hailing from a small village in Ohio, Joe Schaefer found himself afflicted at an early age with an insatiable hunger for all things East Asia. He made his way to Japan as soon as he was able, relishing the heady soup of neon, manga, and intrusive tentacles. Then it was on to China, where he was Shanghaied for an impressive 12 years, studying comedy in the silliest of Shaolin temples.
Whether creating his own show on shanghai TV, building the city's live comedy scene, or starring in viral YouTube videos skewering Chinese culture, Joe made it his mission to put the "party" back in China's Communist Party.

With his wanderlust sated, Joe eventually made his way back home to America. He currently lives in New York City where he continues to write, perform, and collect dark energy from the sewers of Chinatown.
